Then and now - A simple mission statement
In the spring of 2015, I went on a mission. The goal was to combine my original art with a useful, handcrafted product. I also wanted this item to be meaningful and memorable.
An election year was approaching (just like now), and more inspiration came from my desire to create something that would resonate with nearly everybody in America. When the idea arrived, I saw it as a concept that could leap over our differences and remind us of how fortunate we are to live in this country. My thought was, "pride without the politics."
With my vision in place, I began to paint . . . bird by bird, state by state.
Painting all 50 American state birds and transforming them into functional, handmade key racks became my passion! It has been my way of paying tribute to America the beautiful, and offering a solution to that age old question . . . Where the H*LL did I put my keys!
The flock preened their feathers in my studio for about 9 months, then they were ready to make their debut. So, like any proud mother of 50, I was very pleased to present:
